East West Stair, 2011

Artist Shezad Dawood lives and works in Bow, East London. His work explores the relationship between Eastern and Western culture. This staircase links his studio downstairs with his living space upstairs. The balustrade creates a smooth transition alongside two flights of stairs from an eastern perforation below to a conventional western balustrade above.

The project was completed in 2011 and was a collaboration with Tughela Gino Architecture.
